Mining billionaire Clive Palmer may be on his way to ignoring the single most important movie lesson ever taught – don’t clone extinct animals. Sources close to the man have allegedly claimed that he is in deep talks with the people who cloned Dolly the sheep to bring a dinosaur back into existence.
Palmer, who most recently made headlines when he commissioned a Titanic clone from China, is at it again. This time he’s looking to resurrect a dinosaur. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, and he has not yet commented on the statements, if there’s anyone who could do it, it’s him.
If true, the newly unextinct dinosaur would be a part of his new Palmer Resort in Coolum, Australia, that already has plans for a 20-storey sky needle and a London Eye-style ferris wheel.
Other sources, also close to Palmer, have written off the suggestions as “absolutely ridiculous”.
The scary/exciting thing is that if the rumours turn out to be true he could actually do it, the man is worth $8 billion, and he’s not shy about spending it. This is how he responded when he was asked about the cost of commissioning a second Titanic,
The sky’s the limit, I think. All the money I’ve got is the budget, so I should have enough.
The only question I really have though, is what’s it going to be? Tyrannosaurus Rex? Triceratops? Velociraptor?
