America’s First Lady, Michelle Obama, is featured on the new cover of Spanish magazine, Fuera de Serie. This is not the first time that she’s graced the cover of a publication, however, it will be her debut as a topless, slave woman.
Believe it or not, but the move is actually an attempt to honour her by the magazine. The article itself, according to Newsone, is about Michelle Obama’s popularity and how she has helped her husband lead the American nation.
Obama’s face was photoshopped onto a painting called Portrait d’une négresse by French artist Marie-Guillemine Benoist. The painting, which depicts a slave woman in 19th century France, is generally seen as a supportive statement for women’s rights.
Of course, not everyone thinks this is ok.
Here is a comment from The Frisky:
Plenty of absurd things are ‘artsy,’ like crafting Jesus on the cross out of elephant feces or giving birth inside an art gallery as a live action installation. But a drawing of Michelle Obama topless on the cover of Spain’s Magazine de Fuera de Serie is plain old tasteless.”
