We’ve heard stories of cartilage and beaks turning up in chicken dishes, which kind of makes sense, given that the foreign objects are linked to the product itself. But glass? In cereal? That’s what they’re dealing with right now in the US.

    According to abc:

Kellogg Company is recalling some packages of Special K Red Berries cereal because of a risk that they might contain fragments of glass.

The voluntary recall covers some 11.2-ounce and 37-ounce packages as well as 22.4-ounce twin packs, according to a statement posted on the company’s website.

“Please check any packages you have in your home and if your package matches the following criteria, please do not eat the product and contact us for a replacement coupon,” the statement reads. “We may also make arrangements to retrieve the product for further evaluation.”

For a brand and product that prides itself in being linked to a healthy lifestyle, it’s definitely counter-productive to have glass as one of the ingredients. One advantage they do have in this instance, is that glass is calorie-free. So, technically, they’re still on the right track.
