  • [UPDATE] Who Is The Man Behind The Free State Government’s Website? [PICS]

We received a tip in the comments section of the this post yesterday, that a gentleman by the name of Siyanda Dondashe is one of the people sitting on a bag of gold from the R140 million (or R40 million, depending on which report you believe) website redesign deal for the Free State Government.

Cherry Online Design has also reportedly not been registered with Companies and Intellectual Property Commission. So how does an unregistered company get a tender worth R140 million? Or, you know, R40 million. Either way.

As the website designer for Cherry Online, Dondashe would have been responsible for prettying up the Free State Government’s $40 WordPress theme into something they could be suckered out of millions of Rands for.

His Bizcommunity Profile lists Cherry Online as his employer – the self same company that designed the Free State Government’s website for anywhere between R40 million, and R140 million.

But things aren’t all plain sailing on the sea of corruption. If you Google Siyanda Dondashe, the fourth search result brings up his “Who’s Who SA” profile.

Siyanda Dondashe’s “Who’s Who SA” profile displays a different avatar than those used by Dondashe in the previously mentioned social networks, and a different name, Siya Matyalana.

So what the heck is going on here?

Further investigation has found that Siyanda Dondashe  started with Cherry online in May 2012, after the likely date of completion of the Free State G0vernment Website. Having contacted Cherry Online for comment, they informed us that the Free State Governemtn was produced in collaboration with the Letlaka Group.

The website for the Letlaka group is not yet live, and their Twitter account is stagnant.

Their Facebook page, however, lists Dondashe’s Cherry Online email address as the company point of contact.

While Cherry Online was unwilling to divulge the names of their management or confirm Dondashe’s exact role within the company, a man named Neil Sonnekus, is listed as the Head Creative designer at Cherry Online, and the WhoIs data for the Cherry Online website lists Sonnekus as the registrant. So who’s sitting on the golden egg?

Send any tips you have to the comments section, we’ll follow up.
