Former cricketer and curent Pakistan politician Imran Khan suffered minor head fractures when he fell from a forklift at a political rally on Tuesday ahead of Saturday’s general election. Khan and three other men fell at least five meters from a forklift piled with crates.

The footage shows supporters carrying him away with visible head injuries, apparently unconscious.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader, Asad Umer tweeted:

CT scan results show only a minor fracture. IK will be fine inshallah though he is in a lot of pain

    — Asad Umar (@Asad_Umar) May 7, 2013

The hospital where Khan was treated was built by him in honor of his late mother. Doctors reported that Khan had suffered two minor fractures to the skull and had backache, but his injuries were not life threatening. Khan spoke to reporters from his hospital bed, and was still in good spirits about Pakistan.

I have done whatever I could do. Now you have to decide whether you want to make a new Pakistan.

In light of the Saturday elections, Khan wants to get back to his political activities despite doctors’ recommendation for him to rest for 15 days.

Khan s sister, Rani Hafiz Khan told Pakistan ARY news:

Imran Khan wants his supporters to remain peaceful and united, and he says he will soon be among them.

60-year-old Khan has been rallying across Pakistan to gain support for his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. The election race has not been without bloodshed. Since its start in April, 100 candidates and party workers have died in party supporter clashes.
