In what has been a lengthier and more obvious “secret” reveal than any of the last three Big Concerts gigs, Mamphela Ramphele has announced that her political party platform, Agang, will register as a political party to contest the next elections. Agang was launched in February of this year.
The political rumour mill has indicated that Rampehele considered an offer by Helen Zille to join forces in the DA, but ultimately declined, citing general public sentiment that the DA remains a white-benefit0only political party.
No ones’s really giving her much of a chance for success, though.
Analysts, the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the ANC said Ramphele would struggle to provide a viable alternative to the current political status quo if she intended to form a political party.
