  • Now That Everyone’s Forgotten About Nuclear War: Kim Jong-Un Wants Army To Complete Massive Ski Resort Within The Year

Kim Jong-Un wants a “world class” ski resort and he wants it now. The North Korean leader has “issued a national appeal” to have workers speed up the building of the Masik Pass resort. The “gigantic patriotic work” will have 110 km of multi-level ski runs, a hotel, heliport and cable cars.

The Korean Central News Agency broadcast this message from Kim on Tuesday:

[The ruling Workers’ Party] remains unchanged in its resolution to build a world-class skiing ground within this year.

[The resort will] provide the people and school youth and children with highly civilized and happy living conditions.

Construction site of the ski resort.

An impoverished and “military first” country was the legacy left by Kim Jong-Un’s father, Kim Jong-Il. The majority of the population of North Koreans remain poor while Kim Jong-Un lives in luxury. The United Nations reported over 60% of the population of 24 million was “chronically food insecure”.

Speculations are rife as to why Kim Jong-Un wants the rush on the ski resort. Some are saying it’s a ploy to potentially co-host the 2018 Winter Olympics  set to take place at the South Korean resort of Pyeongchang. Others think its aim is to boost tourism and provide much needed foreign currency.
