This is the shy awkward Michael Cera in his latest movie “Crystal Fairy and the Magical Cactus”. Cera embarks on a Chilean adventure in search of the hallucinogenic San Pedro cactus with his friends. Along the way, he picks up Crystal Fairy, an eccentric fellow American to join them on their road trip.
The film was released at Sundance this year and most recently screened at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Directed by Chilean Sebastian Silva and starring Michael Cera as Jamie and Gaby Hoffmann as Chrystal Fairy.
Chief film critic for the Hollywood Reporter Todd McCarthy said:
Watching a bunch of people take a drug trip is seldom either entertaining or edifying, but Chilean director Sebastian Silva manages to make it at least tolerably amusing.
The indie film is being well received at Sundance and is set ot reach theatres in America on 12 July 2013.
