Protesters marched in support of Trayvon Martin’s family and in defiance of the ‘not guilty’ verdict that was handed down for George Zimmerman, who stood accused of shooting and killing the unarmed 17-year-old teen. Thousands of protesters gathered across the US to air their opinions of the verdict.
An official told NBC4 that the police had prepared themselves for the protests. The video above displays protesters at 10th Avenue and Washington St in Los Angeles, California. Here police were forced to open fire on the crowds with rubber bullets.
NBC News reported that thousands of protesters were marching in New York City too, causing havoc with traffic. In Oklahoma reports emerged of protesters burning the American flag.
