In 1973, a father carried his infant son into the forest in central Vietnam when the country was at war the United States. They were never seen again. Now, 40 years later the father, 82 and the son, 41 have been found.
Ho Van Thanh can speak a little of the ethnic minority language, Cor while his son can only say a few words according to an official at Tay Tra commune in Quang Ngai province.
The pair were discovered after people searching for firewood came across their treehouse in the forest. The villagers who discovered the men and their treehouse reported their discovery to local authorities, who then made contact with the two men on Wednesday.
According to reports, the men grew their own forest vegetable garden and hunted animals in the area. While living in the forest they had no contact with the outside world.
The 82-year-old father was seriously ill and needed to be carried out of the forest. During the journey out of the forest, the son was constantly monitored to prevent him escaping back into the forest.
