The CEO of AOL, Tim Armstrong held a conference call with 1,000 employees this last week to discuss the restructuring of AOL’s hyper-local news service, Patch. During the conference call an employee named Abel Lenz decided to commemorate the moment by taking a picture. He was fired for that.
Armstrong said:
If you think what’s going on right now is a joke and you want to joke around about it, you should pick your stuff up and leave Patch today. And the reason is, and I’m going to be very specific about this, is Patch from an experience – Abel, put that camera down right now. Abel, you’re fired. Out.
