The hipsters are over the internet, and it’s about to go viral. Here are the hipsters who are leading the pack:

Dave Eggers – His new novel The Circle is set in the near future and acts as an attack on the internet. The Wall Street Journal says:

[…]it carries the potential to change how the world views its addicted, compliant thrall to all things digital. If you work in Silicon Valley, or just care about what goes on there, you need to pay attention to it and its message.

Arcade Fire -In the two music videos released last week for Arcade Fire’s song ‘Reflektor,‘ the narrator says:

“reflective age,” in which “we fell in love when I was nineteen and now we’re staring at a screen.” “Thought you were praying to the resurrector,” the voices sing. “Turns out it was just a reflector.”

One of the versions of the video is interactive and asks viewers to grant the website access to the built in camera on your device. This is a bit unnerving considering your webcam light is on the whole time you are watching the video.

MGMT – Their new single is called “Your Life is a Lie” and it goes a little something like this.

Count your friends on your hands / Now look again / They’re not your friends.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – This band want you to put your smartphone away at their shows, with signs reading:

Put that shit away as a courtesy to the person behind you.

Jonathan Franzan — The novelist wrote a 6,500 word manifesto that was published inThe Guardian that warned of “our insatiable technoconsumerism.”

This is great news for aspiring hipsters who don’t have the cash to maintain a hipster lifestyle – internet connectivity is one less expense to worry about, friends.
