They’ve Decided To Outlaw ‘Revenge Porn’ In California

Californian Governer, Jerry Brown passed legislation yesterday that makes the production and publishing of so-called “revenge porn” ilegal in that state. The specific terms of the law describe revenge porn as actions “in which a person electronically distributes or posts on the Internet nude pictures of an ex-romantic partner after a breakup to shame the person in public.”

If you’re caught shaming your ex by publishing nudey pics of happier times on the net, you could face a fine of $1,000, and up to six months in jail.

Senator Anthony Canella said,

Until now, there was no tool for law enforcement to protect victims. Too many have had their lives upended because of an action of another that they trusted.
