Remember when we broke the news yesterday of Banksy’s art being defaced in New York? Well, if the images weren’t enough to go by, we got hold a video that sheds light on just how bad the graffiti has gotten.

A single male individual took it upon himself to write “Problem Child NYC” all over Banksy’s work in a dark alley somewhere in Queens. Concerned bystanders who witnessed the whole event constantly shouted at the man, reminding him that he was graffiting over “thousands of dollars” worth of art.

They also threw in a few more insults, calling the man a “dick”, an “asshole” and a “no talent dick” – yet the dude kept tagging relentlessly, reducing Banksy’s work to nought.

According to Gawker’s informer, the man defacing the art was angry because the wall was “his area”.

Whether it was truly “his area” or not doesn’t really matter. What does matter is the dawning realisation that Banksy will not always be the infallible anti-establishment bad-boy rebel we know him to be. He is, after all, a graffiti artist – and they know best that art is never permanent.
