Elon Musk – the guy is a super-achiever, and there seems to be nothing that will halt his imagination. This time, Musk is planning to go one-up on James Bond. Remember the Lotus Esprit submarine that Bond had in  The Spy Who Loved Me? Let’s refesh your memory:

Anyhoo, Elon Musk just bought it for $997,000, and he wants to turn it into a real-life submarine.

The car  in the movie was converted for use in the water,but the new fins prevented it from being driven again after its maiden voyage underwater. Thus spake Elon:

It was amazing as a little kid in South Africa to watch James Bond in The Spy Who Loved Me drive his Lotus Esprit off a pier, press a button and have it transform into a submarine underwater. I was disappointed to learn that it can’t actually transform. What I’m going to do is upgrade it with a Tesla electric powertrain and try to make it transform for real.
