Sivakumar, a 30 year-old man from Kanyakumari, India, travelled to attend the wedding of Ponradha and Sithiraivelu. The day would take a dramatic turn when Sithiraivelu didn’t pitch up to the wedding, and Sivakumar had to step in as a husband-substitute.

Everything was in place for the wedding to happen on Tuesday night, only for the groom’s family to come forward and admit that Sitharaivelu had an argument with them on Monday, and promptly walked out of their home.

Upon hearing this news, the bride’s family went crazy. A cancelled marriage in India is a big deal.

The news spread around town quickly. But as the family were about to give up all hope, a relative of the bride, Sivakumar, came forward and agreed to marry Ponradha.

Here’s to hoping he isn’t a close relative.
