Good news for South Africans living abroad – you’ll be able to register and vote in the national elections next year.
President Jacob Zuma recently signed into effect the Electoral Amendment act, and the Cabinet claims that the legislation will “improve the electoral process and enhance the reliability of the elections for the National Assembly and provincial legislatures”.
Citizens living abroad can register at their local embassy, Monday to Friday during office hours. They have 15 days from the proclamation date to complete the registration process to qualify for voting.
