  • Chef Gets Fired, Still Has Access To Restaurant Twitter Account, Goes Rogue

    No one needs to be reminded about the transformative power of Twitter. It can incite protests, end regimes and mobilise the masses – but it’s also just as useful if you want to get back at the company that just fired you.

    On December 15, The Plough Pub in Great Haseley, England, fired its head chef, Jim Knight. The chef, however, still had access to the pub’s Twitter account, and proceeded to absolutely destroy them in full public view.

    He began by noting the timing of his dismissal:

    We’d like to inform you that we’ve just fired our head chef.

    Unfortunately he wanted to have a weekend off this month and Christmas Day this year for family commitments so we thought we’d sack him.

    Realising the extent of his power, he made things personal:

    We don’t care that he has a 7 1/2 month old baby daughter.

    So anyway come on down and continue to pay a premium for Australian sirloins, New Zealand lamb and everything else that is bought from asda.

    Mr. Potts, the pub landlord, told local press that this claim was “outrageous and untrue.” He admitted that the restaurant may buy certain staples from supermarkets, but he insisted that they are not buying cut-price meat.

    After the tirade, the chef made it clear what had happened:
