Woody Allen’s wit and nuances, coupled with his unparalleled work ethic makes it hard not to like the short, bespectacled filmmaker. But a dark cloud has resurfaced around Woody Allen’s past recently, due to an article published by Vanity Fair.

The article is actress Mia Farrow’s account of her 12-year romantic relationship with Woody Allen. The article has opened old wounds of how Woody Allen allegedly molested their adopted daughter (Dylan Farrow) 21 years ago. So are we still allowed to like Woody Allen?

The main problem with all the badmouthing of Woody on the internet is that this guy doesn’t even use a computer. He’s old school. He still uses a 60-year-old typewrite, so you won’t hear a peep from him regarding the hullabaloo.

This lead Robert B. Weide, an Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker, to come to the man’s defense in this article he wrote. Weide says that yes, Woody did have a relationship with Mia’s other adopted daughter from a previous relationship, Soon-Yi Previn, but he ended up marrying her in 1997. And she wasn’t underage when their affair started – Soon-Yi was 19.

But Weide’s main defense is that Woody was never charged with a crime as there was no credible evidence to support Mia Farrow’s claim, regarding the molestation allegations.
