No naughty photos. No new text message scandal. Just a breakdown in trust, starting with Pietersen’s dismissal as captain five years ago. That’s what former England cricket captain Andrew Strauss believes, anyway.
The England and Wales Cricket Broad (ECB) have made a lot of changes of late, including cutting ties with Kevin Pietersen. Following their 5-0 test series defeat to Australia, the ECB has stated that they want to create a new “team ethic and philosophy.”
The media have been searching for a ‘smoking gun’. Everyone is looking for disciplinary problems, bust-ups and character clashes, but they are looking for the wrong thing. The smoking gun is the total absence of trust,” said Andrew Strauss in the British Sunday Times.
