Columnist at the New York Post, Andrea Peyser, is in hot water after her comments regarding the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman. In her article she states that Hoffman “made his choice” and the media should stop portraying him as a victim of addiction.
Peyser writes that “Hoffman is routinely infantilized as the victim of a “’disease’ — a word I reject like ebola.” She goes on to quote statements from doctors and recovery experts all saying drug addiction is a disease in the same column, which makes total sense.
