In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, Life magazine looked back on some of their own swimsuit editions from the past – 1970 to be exact. It’s a testament to the winning formula of sun, beach, and good looking women wearing swimsuits.

The Californian dream in the 70’s was a mixture of surf, sand, drugs, music and hippies.
