The report by Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has found President Jacob Zuma has misled Parliament when he claimed the Zuma family paid for the costs of buildings in Nkandla.
The two-year long investigation found Nkandla’s private visitors’ centre, the cattle kraal and chicken run, the swimming pool and the amphitheater, among others, were paid for by the government. The report states that Zuma might have misled the Parliament *COUGH* unintentionally. Madonsela also found Zuma’s failure to contain costs a violation of the Executive Ethics’ Code.
The report recommends Zuma must pay a “reasonable percentage” of the costs, to be later determined.
