Almost all little girls want to be a princess at some stage. Dads around the world strive to make their precious daughters princesses in every way possible, because, well to them their little girl is a princess. But this dad has gone to new levels to make this a reality…

A father from Virginia has gone to extreme lengths for his daughter, flying to Africa and claiming a “kingdom” between Egypt and Sudan so that she can be an actual princess.

Jeremiah Heaton began his unusual quest for the unclaimed piece of land sandwiched between the two countries after making a promise to seven-year-old daughter Emily that she would one day be royalty.

After reaching the desert region of Bir Tawil in June, the father-of-three planted a flag his children had designed, and made the first steps towards claiming the land.

Although they cannot officially have any claim to politically ruling the piece of land, unless the neighbouring countries recognise their ownership, the point that, that dad made for his little girl is that he will always follow through on promises, and that is worth the effort right?

Just a quick question though, are your children old enough to understand what you have actually done? Do you understand what you have actually done?

    Colonialism anyone?
