Eating out and enjoying the fine-dining world of Cape Town is always a plus, but often we don’t get to actually see what’s going on behind those kitchen doors.
Are they making our delicious dishes from something strange? Do the chefs ching-chong-cha for who makes what? Or is there something more sinister going on with those men in crazy-cool chef hats?
Seelan is giving you the chance to actually watch what goes on in a top-class kitchen, inviting to become more than JUST a patron, but rather an audience.
The brand-spanking-new restaurant was established by renowned chef, Seelan Sundoo, who is bringing a taste of St Tropez at the V&A Waterfront.
Seelan features a glass-enclosed kitchen, allowing you to observe the masters of the cooking craft and watch how the pros do it, before returning to a patio that overlooks the harbour – you’ll find it hard not to be fooled into thinking you’re in an exotic European establishment.
There are also jazz nights on Wednesdays if you’re looking to up the tempo a little bit with your dining experience, with acclaimed Cape Town musician, Rus Nerwich, hitting the sax.
The music also plays on once a month at Seelan’s popular all-day Saturday Brunch, where you can dine on mouth-watering dishes ranging from banana-batter French toast with Nutella filling, flapjacks & pancakes to meaty morsels such as smoked salmon, lamb & duck, washed down with delicious drinks including a Mimosa and for the adventurous, a special Seelan Bloody Mary.
To hear more about Seelan, you can tune into the #WhatTheFoodShow on 2oceansvibe Radio tomorrow night at 6:15pm, where we’ll be interviewing Seelan himself, as well as giving you the chance to win a R500 dinner for 2 at Seelan Restaurant.
