The conflict taking place in the Gaza Strip has caught the world’s attention and as it reaches a boiling point, let’s recap what we know.
BBC has put together a summary of the intricacies of the conflict, breaking down what’s happened so far in the horrific fight.
Israel’s main declared aim is to stop rocket fire from Gaza once and for all. It has also said it aims to destroy Hamas network of tunnels running between Gaza and Israel and wants the territory to ultimately be demilitarised.
In terms of the tragic body-count, 1,200 Palestinians, 55 Israelites and 1 Thai national have been reported dead, and the UN suggest that 74% of the deaths are civilians.
Over 4,100 air strikes on Gaza have been executed, over 2,670 rockets have been fired at Israel.
This current conflict is also the longest that has taken place in the Israel-Gaza war, and either side is not stopping until achieving their goals.
