Last month, we had a look at the Good Work Foundation projects that vida is involved with, and now we’re seeing some incredible positive impacts coming out of the initiative.

The Shot of Love campaign with the GWF sees vida coffee-buyers getting the chance to add R5 to go towards bringing world class education to rural Africa. You get your morning cuppa-joe as well as making a contribution to education development. Genius.

Already, we’re seeing success stories coming from the campaign, one such includes a spirited graduation ceremony which was held at Good Work Foundation’s Hazyview Digital Learning Centre on 31 October, 2014. 39 students graduated with various certificates including: International Computer Driving License (ICDL), ICDL Advanced, Lobster Ink Food and Beverage Management, and English for Access.

Another incredible story saw Busi Ngomane, an enthusiastic, fun-loving woman, go from growing up in an orphanage to becoming a world-class graduate. Busi said her life really changed when the MEC for Education, Mrs Regina Mhaule, encouraged her to get an education so that she could pursue her dreams. That was when Busi was introduced to Pastor Solly, of Hosanna Church, and then enrolled in the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) course offered at Good Work Foundation’s Hazyview Digital Learning Centre (HDLC).

Teaman Manzini is also someone who has felt the positive effects of the GWF. After having a traumatic childhood and struggling through his teens, Manzini has now achieved his International Computer Driving License (ICDL) certificate, advanced ICDL in Excel, and completed an online course in Food & Beverage Management. Manzini has also just finished the vida e caffè Barista theory module, and will soon be training baristas in Mpumalanga.

“I didn’t believe in myself. I didn’t believe in goals. I didn’t believe in education,” said Manzini.

“Now I am proud to say that I believe in myself. My aunt taught me that lesson. She gave me hope. She told me I could make it in life.”

So, how to get involved… When you’re getting your seventh Con Panna of the day, add an extra Shot of Life for R5 to your bill. Don’t worry – you’re not getting another shot added to your double. We don’t want you bouncing off the walls. The R5 gets donated to the GWF.

Watch the video. Get involved. Go grab another coffee.
