UPDATE: Our legal eagles at Smiedt Law have confirmed that he will get a new sentence if he is convicted. If they find his conviction was correct, then his sentence will be unaltered. Kapish?
Shame, Oscar Pistorius will no doubt be moaning about this news to his BFF, Radovan Krejcir. However, there is a little twist.
Apparently they can only appeal his conviction and not the sentence.
This, from news24:
Judge Thokozile Masipa has ruled prosecutors can appeal Oscar Pistorius’s conviction.
However, Masipa dismissed the State’s bid to appeal his sentencing.
Masipa was responding to arguments on whether to allow prosecutors in the Pistorius case to appeal her verdict and sentence on the Olympic runner, who was acquitted of the murder of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
In October, Masipa convicted Pistorius of the lesser charge of culpable homicide and sentenced him to a five-year prison term. He could be released from prison to be held under house arrest after 10 months.
Ok, we’re not sure what that means. So his conviction could be changed, but not the sentence?
What would the point be?
Oh wait :
Our legal eagles at Smiedt Law have confirmed that he will get a new sentence if he is convicted. If they find his conviction was correct, then his sentence will be unaltered. Kapish?
