Us cricket fans out there will remember Makhaya Ntini for his boundless enthusiasm and non-stop encouragement from mid-on. If you are unfortunate enough to have heard his SABC commentary recently, you will also remember him for his constantly half-finished sentences and inane ramblings.
It seems that they might not be paying him too handsomely for said ramblings, however, as rumours have surfaced that he has fallen on hard times. This from TimesLive:
…a source close to Ntini said he was broke and could no “longer afford to live the lavish lifestyle” he once led.
“But he is one of those proud guys who won’t speak out…”
Ntini rubbished the rumours, saying he was having some quiet time and enjoying the retired life. Personally it’s hard to imagine any quiet time around Makhaya, but I do hope his bank balance is healthier than the rumours suggest. Anyone who participated in the 438 game should live lavishly for all eternity.
