I’m willing to bet there isn’t a human on this planet who enjoys the experience of heading to Home Affairs, and it seems this includes the staff who work there as well.
A video has emerged of a Durban Home Affairs official getting rather peeved with a woman who demanded to see her supervisor. The reason? Officials decided to pack it in 90 minutes before Home Affairs was supposed to close, and on the same day that load-shedding had earlier prevented customers being helped for two full hours.
You can read Tanith Molliere’s full account of the incident on her YouTube account, where she uploaded the video of the irate official lashing out.
A Home Affairs official, Mr Mzuza, has said the incident is under investigation, although we shouldn’t hold our breaths. This from News24:
According to Mzuza, the off-duty clerk was trying to drive home when clients began banging on her car; essentially harassing the clerk.
Mzuza added the video does no show definitive harassment on the part of the clerk, saying the Home Affairs staff member blocked the camera with her hand.
I suppose it is a case of the example being set from the top when it comes to those ‘serving’ the public, in which case we shouldn’t really be surprised at all.
