Every good manager takes care of his or her staff. They are, after all, the backbone of your business.
I’m sure it was with good intentions then that the manager at the San Diego Spur in Worcester decided to train his staff in a ‘worst-case-scenario’ type exercise. The manager organised for actors playing robbers to storm into the restaurant and ‘hold up’ the place. Average idea, very poorly executed…this from IOL:
Customers said they were traumatised, one almost suffering a heart attack…
It came just two days after a real robbery at the Spur in the Tyger Valley Shopping Centre…
Yeah mate, you might want to warn customers so that they don’t almost die from fear. Better yet, don’t let them in during the period where the drill is going to happen. One customer, Maria-Lize Visser, was dining with her two-year-old son when ‘robbers’ entered. IOL quotes her:
[A robber] screamed at her to hand over her cellphone.
“Net daar, piepie ek myself sopnat”…
I’m sure your Afrikaans is comprehensive enough to gather that she wet herself. Shame on you Spur, the only time it’s OK to wet oneself is after a big night out and too many tequilas.
