In amongst making some off-colour jibes about women, Winston Churchill managed to nail a few memorable quotes. Right up there with the best of them is his take on charity, which rings truer today more than ever…’We make a living by what we get – but we make a life by what we give’.
How cool then to see some German lads with a charitable initiative to kit our local kids out with skateboards. Louis Taubert, the German skateboarding champ of 2012, is aiming to collect 100 boards and send them to our shores. There will then be volunteers at each location offering assistance with one-week workshops teaching skater skills. This from The Pigeon Plan’s fund-raising page:
On a board we learned how to deal socially with others, to see the world differently, and express ourselves through movement; the urban jungle can become your playground. That’s what skateboarding is about for us and that is the reason why we want to share our love for skateboarding with the kids of South Africa.
You can get on board with donations HERE and HERE.
Nice work lads, let’s keep skatin’ alive and discover our own Tony Hawk.
