I’m not one to get sappy but baby rhinos are pretty cute little truckers, let’s be honest here. Then they grow into adults and some murderous bastards hack them to bits and sell their horns so some wanker on the other side of the globe can get a tiny erection. See, I told you I’m not a fan of sappy.

Anyway let’s get back to the matter at hand before we get into a tailspin. Scientists are all kinds of excited at finding the remains of a baby woolly rhinoceros. Huffington Post carries this:

The pristine specimen of the tiny extinct rhino–the only one of its type ever found–was discovered in permafrost along the bank of a stream in Siberia’s Sakha Republic…

The part of the carcass that stuck out of the ice was eaten by wild animals, but the rest of it was inside the permafrost and preserved well.

The well-preserved state of the remains is all the more remarkable considering they are estimated at being around 10 000 years old. It is hoped that the finding will help scientists fill in some of the gaps in our understanding of the ancient beast.

So what did a full-grown woolly rhinoceros look like then? We present to you…

Pretty sweet mohawk brother. Let’s all just hope that some day we aren’t telling our grandchildren what our rhinos used to look like.
