One of the more heart-warming stories coming out of these horrid last few days of inferno has been how people have pulled in the same direction and lent a hand wherever they could. Whether it was donating foodstuffs and drinks, providing medical supplies or making storage space available to those displaced we have been blown away by what we can do when we come together.

It’s just such a pity then that we have to write something like this. Yes, it’s true, people are now looting the homes of those displaced during the fire. Because crime never takes a rest, and neither do the assholes who do things like this.

These tweets from the Eyewitness News account are all the information we have available at present but we are sure more will come to light as the story unfolds.

We know there is no shortage of people wanting to volunteer to fight the fire, and I imagine there would be no shortage of people wanting to volunteer to help the police catch these cretins and dish out some retribution.

Remember if you have been affected by the fire you can make use of Stor-Age’s Tokai or Claremont facilities free of charge for a month, which is another prime example of the people of the south stepping up to the plate.

Don’t forget that UberASSIST is running- call an uberASSIST and they will collect and deliver any donations you have (water, lip-ice, eye drops, food, money) to the relevant stations.
