We went and watched CHAPPiE at the cinema last night – I cried for the entire duration of the film and am now feeling rather sensitive today. Go watch the movie. Take along your boyfriend or girlfriend, your mum. It has guns, explosions, car chases, a good soundtrack and a strong message of love and faith and promise.

Because I am over-sensitive today, this story has made me almost-cry. Someone poisoned a dog at the Crufts Dog Show in Birmingham, UK, on Friday and the dog has died. I’m finished. Who even does that??

The victim is three-year old Jagger, a beautiful Irish Setter who stole the show and won.

According to Jagger’s co-owner, Dee Milligan-Bott, the autopsy “revealed he was poisoned” by being fed a piece of steak. According to The Independent, a post-mortem on Jagger “revealed three ‘green and black’ substances, sewn inside beef cubes, inside the stomach”.

The timings from the autopsy make it clear the only place this could have been given to Jagger was while on his bench at Crufts.

The deceased dog’s other co-owner, Jeremy Bott, has an idea as to who could have poisoned the star pooch.

I would imagine it was somebody who has a grudge against dogs or Crufts show.

The best part of this all is what Cruft’s has said:

Whilst every measure is in place to protect dogs at the show, it is important that owners remain vigilant and avoid leaving their dogs unattended on benches, which is in fact stated in communication that is sent to all exhibitors before the show.

AAARGH. How is it the owner’s fault that some cray-cray weirdo is let in and can poison innocent animals?

It is rumoured that two other dogs at the show fell ill, and that CCTV footage is being looked at.

May Jagger rest in peace and forever live in a wonderful land filled with rabbits to chase and plentiful un-poisoned fillet.
