Happy Thursday you miserable gits.
Yes, a new study from Bloomberg has put South Africa third on their misery index, which makes me think the people who compiled this list need to get out more. How did they come to this conclusion? This from Mail and Guardian:
It’s a simple equation: unemployment rate plus change in the consumer price index equals misery.
The three countries that will probably see the most economic misery in 2015 – South Africa, Argentina and Venezuela – haven’t budged much from their 2014 rankings, when they occupied three of the top four spots, the data shows.
So who has beaten out some stiff competition and nabbed top spot? That ‘honour’ belongs to Ukraine, whose citizens have taken a battering from neighbourhood bully Russia. Mail and Guardian again:
In Ukraine’s case, war will exact greater economic casualties. Tension with Russia-backed rebels will prolong joblessness in the Eastern European nation, and inflation won’t offer much relief…
Chin up Ukraine, we hear vodka is cheap around your parts. As for us being a miserable bunch…I laugh in your general direction.
