What do you even do when a rhino starts chasing you down a road?! The villagers of Hetaudu, central Nepal, faced this dilemma when a rhino wandered from Parsa Wildlife Reserve into the town some 20km away.
He ran amok through the town’s market and hospital, and even chased a motorcycle.
The rhino hit and killed one 61-year-old woman, and injured six others.
Residents tried to “force the rhino out of Hetauda city by honking car horns and beating drums”, which obviously confused and panicked the animal. Latest reports from this morning say it was last seen having a nap behind the hospital.
Authorities have called in trained elephants which will hopefully guide the rhino back to the reserve.
Due to deforestation and loss of their natural habitats in the area, rhinos and other animals have been known to come into towns and villages.
