With the Apple Watch flying off the shelves across the globe, it was only a matter of time before companies started making straps or bands for people to personalise their watches. What’s great is that Apple is completely OK with this which means hundreds of designs should soon be available. In fact, they’re so OK with third-parties making straps that they have a set of guidelines.
Made for Apple Watch program specifies the conditions Apple requires — specifically, that band makers stick to environmental guidelines in the creation of the straps, and that when fasted, the Watch can sit tight enough against the wrist that it can read the wearer’s heartbeat.
Made for Apple Watch can be downloaded HERE.
We like these three that have already made a statement:
The WiPowerBand will give your 18-hour battery life a massive boost with a 250mAh lithium-polymer battery encased in a polypropylene plastic core surrounded by silicone rubber skin. Phew. It charges with a with a Lightning cable. The choices come in blue, white, and black options for the 42mm and the 38mm comes in orange, white, and pink.
Click was originally funded with a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign and aims to “enable Apple Watch owners to use any 22mm watch band via adapter”. Genius. Some of us have dainty wrists. How does it work? “Slide the included pin into your preferred watch band, secure the band onto Click, then slide Click in place on the Apple Watch”. You’ll be able to get one come June in polymer, aluminum, and stainless steel.
If this is image is anything to go by (the brand hasn’t released much info yet), Incipio, known for making great Apple accessories, will make me a happy person. They’ll be making nylon bands in an array of colours, and who doesn’t love colour?
