Kids, it was the Met Gala (aka The Costume Institute Gala) last night. Think a night of celebrities and A-listers from all types of industries, haute couture and most importantly, fund-raising for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The annual event marks the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit and is always draped with a wonderful theme – this year it was China: Through The Looking Glass.

Personally, I think everyone looked a lot better during awards season, but this is all in the name of costume and is less “monotone gowns and fishtail dresses” as Karl Lagerfeld explains it.

Without any further ado, we give you the pics… And we’re going to start with SJP in this flaming red headdress so that we can swiftly move on to slightly better things.

Next up we have Jennifer Lawrence, who looks fine, Anne Hathaway who looks gold, Kendall Jenner in a mermaid dress and Justin Bieber just biebering on.

I can’t say for certain that Kim’s dress is very “China: Through The Looking Glass”, but it shows off her derriere and I like the train.

Between Kim and Beyonce there probably could have been a sheer-dress-booty-off and let’s be honest, who knows who would have won. I do like her top-knot and the detailing on B’s dress.

I think it’s safe to say that Rihanna stole the show with her gown – who would not want to be wrapped up in that and walking the red carpet? The colour! And that fur!

Here it is from the front because it deserves a second glance.

Well done celebville. You did good this time around.

P.S. Our very own Trevor Noah was there!

He joked about being “mistakenly invited” and posted images of his Ralph Lauren suit to Instagram.
