If you’ve ever seen a mate post a status on Facebook about how they’re not sure which phone to go with you’ll know people get pretty fired up. Name-calling, arguments, horror stories, they all come out of the woodwork.

There’s the Crackberry, the i-can’t live without my-Phone and those Windows things that may as well be tablets, everyone has their own preference. But, as a country, who is ruling the roost when it comes to the top-selling South African smartphone?

According to Phonefinder, a platform that sees over 100 000 visits per month from smartphone seekers, these are your biggest sellers:

    1. BlackBerry Z3
    2. Samsung Galaxy S5
    3. Apple iPhone 6 (16G)
    4. BlackBerry 9720
    5. Apple iPhone 5 (16GB)

The most popular contract prices were also revealed:

    1. R239 per month
    2. R249 pm
    3. R169 pm
    4. R499 pm
    5. R649 pm

Whilst the Samsung Galaxy S6 has done well since its arrival on the scene many predict that Apple sales will surge on the back of the larger-screened iPhone 6′s success in Africa. Here’s Fin24:
Apple’s growth is primarily due to the incredible success of its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models, which finally placed the vendor in the large screen size segment that had previously been dominated by Samsung.
Looks like Crackberry for the win guys, although this race is far from over.
