  • It’s OK Cape Town: Here’s Proof That You’re Actually Colder

I was having quite the laugh the other day when a friend of mine in London took her niece to the park because the weather was 18 degrees and sunny. It was 18 degrees in Cape Town that day, too, and I was in boots, jumper and scarf. I just couldn’t understand how this was possible, but now I do.

After much scientific research by the Institute for Cold Experientials (ICE), it has been determined that “when Capetonians are cold, they are colder than anyone else”.

    Finally! Proof!

Professor Uys, who led the mammoth project explains:

It’s a chemical reaction, so as soon as the temperature drops below 20, Capetonians feel it as at least 2 degrees colder than it really is.

I don’t know about you, but this news comes as a relief to me. I’ve always thought myself odd that I always find it so cold when it is cold. When it’s 12 degrees here, I pretty much want to hibernate like my cat.
