Never bring a sword to a gunfight and, in the same vain, if you’re going to bring a gun you may as well go the whole nine yards.

A gang of 17 organised criminals pounced on an unsuspecting businessman in Pietermaritzburg, KZN, who never really stood a chance in the face of the well-rehearsed siege. News24 reports:

The attackers all armed with pistols, AK-47 rifles and balaclava hats are seen taking control of the vicinity before proceeding into the property with the owner as a hostage.

…a distress call was made to two security firm owners who rushed to the scene to help. As they arrived on the scene, the criminals opened fire.

Security boss, Shaheen Suleiman explained, “We took cover and fired back. I’ve been involved in a lot of shoot-outs before, including cash-in-heist transits, but this one was different. These guys were well organised and had spotter cars everywhere.”

The attackers eventually fled the scene in three separate vehicles with Shaheen getting shot in the face. For all their bluster the attackers made away with just R10 000 cash, proving that they really don’t place much of a premium on human life these days.
