Unfortunately for those of us who have been keeping tabs on the FIFA corruption scandal the 2010 World Cup may have lost some of its shine. That might have something to do with Fikile Mbalula and Jacob Zuma laughing in our faces but, as the headline suggests, we are here for a good time. Let’s forget about such matters and bring some smiles to dials, shall we?
It was five years ago today, this very Thursday, that the World Cup kicked off with Bafana playing Mexico. If this video below doesn’t give you goosebumps I advise you seek medical attention.

Anyone who was lucky enough to be here for the 2010 tournament will know that something pretty special went on, a sense of national unity that I can’t recall feeling since we took to the streets in 1995 and saluted Francois and the boys. A few pics to jog the memory…
