  • Please Enjoy This SA Airforce Pilot Ducking And Diving After Being Busted

In the list of ‘coolest jobs in the world’, being an airforce pilot must be up there (it is, in fact no.22, in case you were curious). So you could be forgiven for letting it go to your head. Unless you’re this guy. As the Sunday Times reports, Lieutenant Colonel Albert Van de Vyver has been using air force jets to casually ferry his family around South Africa. Upon confronting him about it last Friday, the Times got this delightful response:

What the f*ck is wrong with your newspaper, why do you want to write this sh*t story while people are dying of hunger? Write about those hungry people and leave me the f*ck alone.”

Right then. Shortly after this outburst he was presented with cold hard evidence of a Pretoria – Cape Town flight to take his kids on holiday, at which stage he shamelessly changed his tune to say:

Yes I did fly my kids on that day, I can’t deny it — but please understand I am not using SAAF aircraft as a taxi. It is not my family taxi.”

Perhaps the constant high altitudes have impaired his brain facilities – that or he just thinks it’s perfectly fine to take his wife on a jet that costs R52,000 an hour of the tax-payer’s money to fly.

Things get farcical as Van de Vyver continues to change his statement from denial to admission – see the whole thing HERE.

The SAAF have not yet announced how they plan to deal with Van de Vyver, although you would think he’d be dismissed at the very least for such a flagrant abuse of power.

It is definitely not allowed and if it is true what you are saying, it has to be investigated,” said Brigadier-General Marthie Visser.

Let’s hope so. In the meantime, maybe he can make do with an Uber like the rest of us.
