Most prisoners who escape via an intricate series of interconnected underground tunnels are going to lie low for a while, that would seem common sense. Then again, when you’re one of the world’s most feared drug kingpins I guess normal rules don’t really apply.
Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman escaped over the weekend and now pictures have been published on a Mexican website believed to have been leaked by his sons, no strangers to controversy themselves. This below from NY Daily News:
The photos, which haven’t been verified, would be the first of the mastermind since his escape.
He appeared at ease, casually gripping a bottled brew next to a couple of women in one image and chatting with a pilot in the other.
So are these to be taken seriously or is someone playing a risky game of piss-taking?
Federal drug agents refused to comment on the pictures, but at least one law enforcement expert suspects the images could be part of a hoax.
“I don’t think (his son) would leak those photos because that could be used to try and apprehend Chapo, and that would be circumventing his planned escape,” former Drug Enforcement Agent Mike Vigil [said].
I think we would all like to see El Chapo end up back where he belongs, but is it too much to ask that he scares the living daylights out of Donald Trump for just a little while longer?
