HERE’S A LESSON: if you have a following of over 60 000 people because of whatever you’re preaching about, someone will have the chance to screen shot your #socialmediafail.
In a recent Instagram post, Dave Driskell, an “Inspirer/CrossFit Coach” and “Vagabond/Model”, stuffed up when he posted a pic of the ‘Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe’ in Berlin without even referencing it, but instead commenting on his 15 hour layover and ‘Drinking the beers. Eating the bratwurst.’ Worst of all, he is doing a handstand.
Now, if you ever get the chance to visit this ‘visually appealing’ memorial site, YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOU ARE THERE. But, apparently Driskell was completely unaware. He instead took the chance to take a picture doing a handstand to promote health and fitness – something he has done all around the world, from Central Park to Iceland.
Although he did apologise, his efforts were a bit painstakingly elaborate:
“Again I apologize for this horrible misunderstanding and any offense this might have caused. Anyone who knows me, knows this is the complete opposite of what I would want. I respectfully ask your forgiveness.”
