“I did not expect that from Checkers at all.”
That was one foodie’s response after she was told the food she had just tried out could be found in Checkers around the country.
Checkers led a secret social experiment in Stellenbosch at the Route44 market, the ultimate place to punk some wannabe’s, by setting up various unbranded food stalls. Those moseying around were invited to try out the variety of produce – and they were ‘pleasantly, pleasantly surprised’.
The cheese was delicious, the wine was just fabulous.
At first, the foodies were asked why they liked the market:
The food is good, the vibe is good. Coffee is always the first thing on the list.
You find things you don’t get to find anywhere else.
But the best of it all are the comments. The video was uploaded onto the Checkers’ Facebook page and has received a load of positive responses – everyone finally coming out of closet.
