Drinking and driving is daft no matter what vehicle you find yourself in, although if one must take to the road after a few toots a tank may be the way to go.
The Siberian city of Chita had some unusual road users after drunk soldiers decided to cruise the streets in an armoured personnel carrier, eventually being stopped by police wielding sledgehammers. The soldiers were clad in their uniforms, making identification rather easy, although this didn’t stop them from refusing to get out the tank. Police then smashed the window of the vehicle and pulled them out, with this below from Metro:
A spokesman said: ‘After conducting a medical examination and establishing the fact of the alcohol intoxication, the servicemen who drove an armoured vehicle in Chita will be dismissed from the Russian Armed Forces by the decision of the commander of the Eastern Military District.’
Really Russian soldiers, you’re expected to be able to handle your vodka – I thought that was how you managed to get all the Yankee secrets during the Cold War?
