There’s a classic line from The Godfather Part III where Michael Corleone says ‘Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in’.
Spending our evenings in darkness hoping Eskom doesn’t punish us for longer than they promised? Just when we thought we were out…
Cape Town International Airport is currently experiencing a power outage that has caused several operations to cease. Here’s EWN:
Passengers disembarked into a dark and chaotic baggage retrieval area. Passengers on board flight MN121 from Johannesburg have also been told there’s been a power outage at the airport.
No carousels are operating at the baggage retrieval section and escalators are out as well. This poses a big challenge for those in wheelchairs who wait on airport staff to assist them.
Passengers, including anxious foreign tourists are using the lights on their mobile phones to assist airport staff. The outage however doesn’t appear to be affecting air traffic.
I suppose it’s not ideal when the first thing those tourists see is the airport plunged into darkness. At least it’s one helluva gorgeous day here in the Cape…
Please, we beg of you, don’t let this be the beginning of the return of the dreaded load shed.
