Summer vacations, that time of year when us Capetonians decide to bugger off so that the rest of the world can enjoy our beautiful city.

Of course we’re only playing, we love queueing for restaurants and seeing traffic snake its way along our windy road. The thing is that there is so much more to the Western Cape than just our beautiful city, the surrounding areas sometimes not getting as much attention from local and international visitors.

In honour of that we want to show you guys some crazy summer specials that should encourage us to explore a little more of the Western Cape. Here are five spots that grabbed our attention so have a look and see what tickles your fancy.

    The Quiver Tree B&B 2

Nestled on its own five acres, the Quiver Tree makes for the perfect couples escape for those seeking the quiet and relaxed life.

They are situated in a very quiet area but still within three kilometers of Mykonos, the shopping mall, the golf course and the lagoon. Langebaan main beach is just seven kilometers away.

Mooiplaas River Cottage, Wolseley – Receive a 40% discount when booking a midweek stay

    Mooiplaas River Cottage

The Mooiplaas River Cottage can be found on the farm Mooiplaas, nestled in the heart of the Breede River Valley. On this working farm, you will be surrounded by majestic mountains and sweeping vineyards. The beautiful stone cottage is situated on the outskirts of Wolseley, just an hour and thirty minute’s drive from Cape Town at the end of the Bainskloof Pass.

Indulge in the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, or bask in the sun while being lulled by the soft sounds of the Breede River five meters away. Savour the fresh air, take a load off, relax and unwind.

The Farmhouse Hotel, Myburgh Park – Book a midweek stay and receive 20% off

Queens Hotel, Oudtshoorn – Receive 25% off when booking a standard double or twin rooms

    Queens Hotel

The Queen’s Hotel is an oasis of colonial elegance and wired modern convenience in the heart of Oudtshoorn – the capital of the beautiful semi-arid Klein Karoo.

Finished in 1880, this grand dame of South African hoteliery has recently been restored to her full original beauty and continues to offer sumptuous accommodation, service and dining that is reminiscent of a bygone era but driven by dynamic modern hotel management.

See, look at all the goodness right here on our doorstep. There’s no harm in getting out of town for a few days when things get a little crazy down here in the Cape, you just have to know where to go and your wallet should handle all that sunshine just fine.
